They help prevent sensitive information like PHI or card numbers from going out by text by warning about or blocking messages that break a guardrail you've set. They don't guarantee compliance, Engage is not HIPAA or PCI certified, and Proclaim does not sign Business Associate Agreements (BAAs). You are responsible for your own compliance, including how you configure and use the guardrails.
Before the message is sent, Engage either warns the sender so they can review and edit it, or blocks the text so it doesn't go out. Guardrails check only against the rules you've set up, so content they don't cover can still go out.
